Everybody sing!

Gossip, gossip, spread the rumor,

Gossip, gossip, spread the rumor.

Pam told Peter, Peter told Paul,

Paul told people I don't know at all but,

by the time the story got back to me,

it was a work of fiction.

Jane told Julie,

Julie told Jim,

not many people would listen to him

but by the time the story got back to me

there was a contradiction.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones

but names will never hurt me."

If those words are really true

then why, why, why do I feel so bad?

Gossip is a wicked thing,

full of poison, with a painful sting.

If you can't say something nice,

don't talk at all, that's my advice.

Don't talk at all is my advice.

Gossip, gossip, spread the rumor,

Gossip, gossip, spread the rumor.

Build people up, tear people down;

such is the power of a tiny tongue.

Good reputation can be undone

like a forest set on fire.

"Think before you speak!

Watch what you say!

Words spoke in anger are not okay.

Tame you tongue!" my mother would say.

She was not a liar.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones

but names will never hurt me."

If those words are really true

then why, why, why do I feel so bad?

Gossip is a wicked thing,

full of poison, with a painful sting.

If you can't say something nice,

don't talk at all, that's my advice.

Don't talk at all is my advice.

Don't talk at all.

Don't talk at all is my advice.

Don't talk at all is

Don't talk at all

Don't talk at

Don't talk

Don't

Amen.
