Adieux then, beautiful rivers of Kadébonguay.

The time has come when we must part.

Winter has come, with all of its hardships.

A hundred men are assembled. Jack Boyd will lead them home.

You leave us for the winter, your pack on your back.

You leave us too quickly.  You curse our logs,

You curse our rivers, our oars, our paddles,

You curse all the way to the air we breathe.

Let's jump the falls, let's shoot the rapids with all our skill,

Let's shoot the straight that follows to the big current.

After the wilderness, Gouin will be waiting for us there.

On the green lawn, he's the man who'll do the trading.

Let's drink, dear friends, to the health of Gouin.

Three or four glassfuls, and let's all shake his hand.

Drive on down the Gatineau! Drive  right down to the end!

And our boats on the water go better than a rabaska..
